Golf Club Le Rovedine operates immediately south of Milan at Noverasco di Opera. Its principal layout is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course measuring 6,259 metres, alongside a separate nine-hole, par-27 executive course of 836 metres. The facility was conceived as an accessible public-golf operation rather than a traditional members-only club.
Franco Piras later redesigned the original nine holes and implemented the addition of a second nine, creating the present championship layout. The course has staged significant professional events, including the 52nd Italian Open and a Ladies Italian Open. Le Rovedine occupies a large park containing extensive water areas and mature planting.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,259m. Designed by Marco Croze, the course originally opened in 1976. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Golf Academy, Putting Green, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar, 9-Hole Executive Course.
Le Rovedine traces its history to 1976 and was developed with the stated objective of making golf more accessible around Milan. Rather than following the traditional model of an exclusive private club, it adopted a public-course philosophy. That approach became a defining part of the operation and helped establish the site as a major teaching and introductory-golf centre.
The championship course is a flat, water-influenced parkland layout. EIGCA's biography of Franco Piras records that, during his time at Le Rovedine, he redesigned the existing nine holes and implemented the construction of an additional nine. The present championship course is par 72 and measures 6,259 metres.
The site grew beyond its original course into a large golf complex incorporating an executive course, academy and extensive practice range. Piras became general manager around 1989-90 and gained experience there in course maintenance, management, design and construction. In 2009 Le Rovedine began its Swing Art project, installing contemporary art around the golf property.
Its tournament history includes the 52nd Italian Open and a Ladies Italian Open, establishing Le Rovedine as more than a teaching and public-access facility.
Le Rovedine currently combines the 18-hole championship course with a nine-hole executive course and a 100-station practice facility. The club remains accessible to visiting golfers and continues to emphasize introductory golf and instruction.
