About Los Moriscos Club de Golf

Los Moriscos Club de Golf is an 18-hole, par-70 seaside course at Playa Granada in Motril. The club began in 1974 as a nine-hole course beside the Mediterranean and expanded to 18 holes in 2006. Spain's national golf federation credits Ibergolf as the designer; other Andalusian tourism sources additionally credit Manuel Piñero.

The federation's current yellow-tee card measures 5,072 metres and is rated 69.4 with a slope of 123. The terrain is comparatively flat and exposed to coastal conditions, and the club specifically notes that proximity to the sea affects turf management because of soil salinity. The 2006 expansion changed the character and scale of the facility, adding a second nine and producing the current routing with wider fairways and strategically positioned sand and water features.

The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 70, 5,072m (5,547 yards), course rating 69.4 and slope rating 123. Designed by Ibergolf and Manuel Piñero, the course originally opened in 1974. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Academy, Restaurant, Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Golf Shop, Golf Cart Hire, Terrace.

Origins

Playa Granada had been designated a National Tourist Interest Centre in 1957, and golf became part of the area's recreational development when Los Moriscos opened in 1974. Its original nine holes were laid out immediately beside the Mediterranean.

Did You Know?
The course operated with nine holes for more than three decades before its expansion to 18 holes in 2006.

Design Philosophy

The present course is comparatively flat, with wide fairways and sand and water features incorporated into the 2006 expansion. Its seaside location also directly affects maintenance because the staff must manage salinity in the soil and irrigation environment.

Development

The defining change came in 2006 when nine additional holes were completed, turning Los Moriscos into an 18-hole course and substantially revising the facility. A new management team arrived in 2018 with a stated objective of revitalising the complex.

Today

Los Moriscos remains an 18-hole visitor-accessible course with an academy, restaurant and published online green-fee booking.
