Manitoulin Golf began operating in 1980 on a rural property south of Gore Bay. The club marked its 45th anniversary in 2025. The front part of the site had previously been cattle-grazing land.
As the course matured, multiple tee options were established on every hole, with alternate tee decks on the second and eighth holes allowing a repeat nine to play differently during an 18-hole round. Practice facilities beside the clubhouse now include a driving range, putting green and practice net.
The course remains a nine-hole, par-36 facility. Its terrain changes from rolling, comparatively open ground on the front portion to a more enclosed parkland character among hardwood forest on the southern side. A restaurant, bar and patio operate from the clubhouse.
