Miacomet Golf Club is Nantucket's only 18-hole public golf facility. Ralph P. Marble purchased approximately 400 acres on Nantucket's southern shore in 1956 and began developing the original golf course four years later; Miacomet opened in 1963.
The Nantucket Island Land Bank later acquired the property. Architect Howard Maurer expanded Miacomet from nine to 18 holes in 2003 and subsequently rebuilt the original nine, which reopened in spring 2007. The current par-72 course measures 6,890 yards from the Gold tees, rated 73.6 with a slope of 128.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,890 yards, course rating 73.6 and slope rating 128. Designed by Ralph P. Marble, the course originally opened in 1963. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Practice Facilities, Golf Carts, Pull Cart Hire, Club Hire, Restaurant, Beverage Cart.
Ralph P. Marble purchased approximately 400 acres on Nantucket's south shore in 1956, initially intending to raise dairy cattle. Four years later he began developing a golf course.
Miacomet opened in 1963 and attracted golfers after the closure of nearby Tupancy Links.
Marble later sold the property to the Nantucket Island Land Bank to preserve the land. Howard Maurer expanded the original nine-hole course to 18 holes in 2003. He then comprehensively renovated the original holes, which reopened in spring 2007.
Miacomet is the island's only 18-hole public golf facility and has held Audubon certification since 2017.
The Nantucket Island Land Bank owns the property. Miacomet remains open to residents and visitors with four principal tee sets, extensive practice facilities and dining.
