Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club is an 18-hole links at Newburgh in Aberdeenshire. The club was founded in 1888 with a nine-hole course laid out over Newburgh Links between the Foveran Burn and River Ythan. It first expanded to 18 holes in 1912 to a design by Mr McAndrew, professional at Cruden Bay, but wartime changes eventually returned it to nine holes.
The club remained nine holes for 75 years before purchasing land on Foveran Links in 1994. Greens of Scotland oversaw design of a new nine, with Glen Andrews constructing greens and bunkers; the expanded course officially opened in April 1996. The present White course is 6,423 yards, par 72, rated 71.7 with slope 127.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 5,874m (6,423 yards), course rating 71.7 and slope rating 127. Designed by Mr McAndrew, the course originally opened in 1888. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Putting Green, Practice Nets, Golf Lessons, Pro Shop, Club Hire, Trolley Hire, Electric Trolley Hire, Buggy Hire, and 2 more.
John Udny of Udny and a group of founding members established the club in 1888. Its original nine-hole course measured one mile and 401 yards and occupied Newburgh Links between the Foveran Burn and River Ythan.
The course was extended to 18 holes in 1912 to a design by Mr McAndrew of Cruden Bay, but wartime pressures reduced it to 12 holes in 1917 and back to nine in 1919. It stayed at nine holes for 75 years. In 1994 the club bought land south of the existing course on Foveran Links.
Greens of Scotland oversaw design of a new nine and Glen Andrews built greens and bunkers. The completed 18-hole course formally opened in April 1996.
The present course combines the newer outward nine over more undulating ground with the older links holes on the inward half. The club also operates a short academy course and accepts visiting golfers.
