Origins

The George Fazio Course was developed during Palmetto Dunes' early resort expansion and opened in 1974. It joined the existing Robert Trent Jones course as golf became a central part of the community and resort.

Design Philosophy

George Fazio created a par-70 routing with only two par fives and placed much of the challenge in a series of substantial par fours. The back nine becomes tighter than the more open opening side, while lagoons and Lowcountry vegetation influence positioning.

Development

The course has remained one of three Palmetto Dunes golf layouts. Its putting surfaces have since been converted to Diamond Zoysia.

Recognition

Palmetto Dunes states that the Fazio course was one of the youngest courses to appear on Golf Digest's America's 100 Best list and later received South Carolina Golf Course of the Year recognition from the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association.

Today

The Fazio Course remains an 18-hole public resort course at Palmetto Dunes, operating alongside the Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront and Arthur Hills courses.
