The Robert Cupp Course at Palmetto Hall on Hilton Head Island is an 18-hole, par-72 design that opened in 1993. Robert Cupp's layout is deliberately geometric, using straight lines, sharp angles and unusually shaped features rather than attempting to imitate a traditional Lowcountry course. The back Gold tees measure 7,079 yards and are rated 75.2/149.
Additional published ratings are 6,524 yards at 72.3/135 from Blue, 6,042 yards at 69.9/124 from White and 5,220 yards at 70.8/123 from the Forward tees. When the course opened, its back-tee slope was among the highest in South Carolina. The Cupp Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Palmetto Hall, the other being the Arthur Hills Course, and the two layouts must not be treated as a single course record.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 7,079 yards, course rating 75.2 and slope rating 149. Designed by Robert Cupp, the course originally opened in 1993. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Clubhouse, Full Membership, Social Membership, Club Hire.
Robert Cupp created the second course at Palmetto Hall after the Arthur Hills layout had opened in 1991. The Cupp Course followed in 1993.
Cupp deliberately departed from conventional organic shaping. Straight lines, sharp angles and unusual geometric forms are central to the design, but the club describes the layout as flexible, with different tee sets reducing the challenge substantially from the demanding back markers.
The Robert Cupp Course operates alongside the Arthur Hills Course as part of the 36-hole Palmetto Hall golf facility on Hilton Head Island.
