About Peebles Golf Club

Origins

Peebles Golf Club was founded in 1892. Its first course occupied Morning Hill on the south-west boundary of the town and was formally opened on 17 October that year by club captain Harry Ballantyne. Sixteen years later, in 1908, the club moved to its present Kirklands site.

Did You Know?
The seventh hole is named Colt's Choice in recognition of Harry Colt's 1933-34 remodelling work.

Design Philosophy

Harry Colt remodelled the Kirklands course in 1933-34. The club explicitly preserves that architectural connection through the name Colt's Choice for its par-3 seventh hole.

Development

The decisive early change was the 1908 move from Morning Hill to Kirklands, followed by Colt's 1930s remodelling. The club celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2017.

Recognition

Peebles has developed a strong record in junior and amateur golf. Its juniors became Scottish Junior Club Champions in 2008 and Scotland's Junior Club of the Year in 2015. The club has also staged several Scottish national championships.

Today

Peebles operates an 18-hole par-70 course with a driving range, academy, professional coaching and visitor tee times.
