Piltdown Golf Club is an 18-hole Sussex heathland course at Uckfield, established in 1904. Its official history says Count Munster of Maresfield Park leased part of Piltdown Common and employed farmer George Varnum to construct an initial ten-hole course designed by professional Jack Rowe. The modern course plays to par 68 and is unusual for having no bunkers; its main defenses are heather, gorse, narrow fairways, small greens and natural gullies.
The current Yellow course measures 5,876 yards and is rated 69.1/124, while the club also publishes WHS ratings for White, Red and shorter Blue tees. Piltdown remains a members club but accepts visitors and societies, with current green fees published seasonally. Practice facilities include an undercover range, putting and chipping greens and practice nets.

In 1904 Count Munster of Maresfield Park leased part of Piltdown Common for golf. He employed local farmer George Varnum to carve out a course designed by professional Jack Rowe. Ten holes were initially created, with a room in the Varnum farmhouse serving as the first clubroom.
Piltdown's identity comes from the heathland itself rather than constructed bunkering. The current course has no bunkers, using heather, gorse, gullies, narrow fairways and compact greens to dictate lines and punish inaccurate play.
The club evolved from the original ten-hole layout into the present 18-hole course. Its history also includes continued development of the clubhouse and practice facilities while preserving the heathland character. The late-18th-century clubhouse building is listed.
Piltdown operates as a traditional members club that also welcomes visitors and societies. Four principal tee categories are currently WHS rated, including a shorter Blue course intended to provide a more accessible playing option.
