Origins

Dr. Otis McKinley bought roughly 150 acres in 1950, initially using the property as a Christmas-tree farm and later for livestock. In 1965 he and Canadian semi-professional golfer Len Johnson began designing a golf course on the land.

Design Philosophy

The original Red and Blue nines were built through mature woodland and wetlands, with separate tee sets intended to vary the challenge.

Development

The original course opened in 1968. Jim and Gertrude O'Connell and Tom Paglia acquired Pine Valley in 1988 and developed the Gold nine, creating the current 27-hole property. After another ownership change in 1999, the Red and Blue 9th greens were moved across the river.

An open-air pavilion was added in 2007.

Today

Pine Valley remains a public daily-fee course offering three nine-hole layouts, practice facilities, golf outings, dining and a pro shop.
