The Old Course is Portstewart Golf Club's original course and dates to the club's foundation in 1894. It is physically separate from the main Strand Road complex, occupying ground around Portmore Road. The opening eight holes run along the rocky shoreline east of Portstewart, while the remaining ten turn onto the landward side.
The current official scorecard lists the white course at 4,890 yards and the ladies' course at 4,395 yards. There is an inconsistency on the club's current page: its heading calls the course par 64, while the detailed hole-by-hole scorecard totals par 65, so no single par value has been forced into the course field. The Old Course is intended as a shorter full 18-hole option and the club specifically identifies it as suitable for groups, holiday golfers and newer players.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. The course originally opened in 1894. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Locker Room, Restaurant, Bar, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Full Membership, Junior Membership.
