Retamares Club de Golf is an 18-hole, par-72 course at Alalpardo in the northern part of the Community of Madrid. Founded in 1993, it was designed by José María Olazábal and is identified by the club as the only Madrid course designed by the two-time Masters champion. The white-marker course measures 6,270 metres.
Olazábal's routing was fitted into approximately 720,000 square metres of broken terrain, and the property now incorporates eight lakes. A major redevelopment between 2005 and 2007 added five interconnected lakes to the three already present, substantially increasing on-site irrigation-water storage. Retamares has staged professional tournaments including three editions of the Madrid Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour in 2007, 2008 and 2009, plus the 2007 Open Mahou and 2009 Reale Challenge de España on the Challenge Tour.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,270m (6,857 yards). Designed by José María Olazábal, the course originally opened in 1993. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Covered Practice Bays, Practice Bunker, Pitching Green, Putting Greens, Swing Analysis Room, Pro Shop, Clubhouse, and 7 more.
Retamares was founded in 1993 around an 18-hole course designed by José María Olazábal. The project occupied roughly 720,000 square metres of undulating terrain north of Madrid.
Olazábal fitted the holes into the property's broken natural topography rather than imposing a flat routing. The club describes the resulting form as links-like in its shaping, despite its inland Madrid location.
A major 2005-07 programme created five new interconnected lakes in addition to the original three. The system increased water-storage capacity to approximately 180,000 cubic metres and formed part of broader course and irrigation improvements.
Retamares became a professional tournament venue, hosting three Madrid Ladies Masters events on the Ladies European Tour and two Challenge Tour tournaments.
The club combines member golf with non-member green-fee access and maintains extensive golf-practice, fitness and racquet-sport facilities.
