Origins

Golf on the present property is connected to the former Sewart Air Force Base. Local historical records identify the former base Officers' Club as the site of Smyrna Country Club, which opened in 1971. The present regulation golf course is generally dated to 1973.

Did You Know?
Smyrna became Tennessee's first certified American FootGolf League course in 2014.

Development

The facility evolved into a municipal operation owned and managed by the Town of Smyrna. It now combines an 18-hole regulation course with a separate nine-hole Executive Course. The Executive Course became associated with First Tee programming, while the overall property developed a full practice complex including an 8,000-square-foot putting green, driving range, bunker and pitching green.

Recognition

The Executive Course is recognised as a First Tee facility. Smyrna also introduced FootGolf in April 2014 and states that it was the first certified American FootGolf League course in Tennessee.

Today

The Town of Smyrna continues to own and operate the facility for public play. The regulation and Executive courses have separate fee structures, and the club also supports practice, junior golf and FootGolf.
