The Kernow Resort Course is the second 18-hole layout at St Mellion Estate in Cornwall. Its origins lie in the resort's original course, opened in 1976 and initially known as the Old Course. St Mellion records a par of 70 and a headline length of 5,309 yards, with the current layout emerging from the major redevelopment of the property completed around 2010.
The earlier course was significant enough to stage European Tour competition, including the Benson & Hedges International Open and Tournament Players Championship. The modern Kernow is deliberately distinct from St Mellion's adjoining Jack Nicklaus Signature Course and should not be confused with that longer par-72 layout. Current WHS records show rated White, Yellow, Green and Red configurations, including separate ratings for men and women where applicable.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 70, 5,309 yards. The course originally opened in 1976. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro shop, Practice facilities, Hotel, Restaurant, Full Membership.
The Kernow traces its lineage to St Mellion's original course, which opened in 1976. Within a few years the course had moved into professional tournament golf, hosting the Benson & Hedges International Open in 1979 and later Tournament Players Championship events, including Bernhard Langer's 1983 victory.
As part of the large redevelopment of St Mellion, the original layout was extensively renovated. The resort describes it as entirely renovated during the 2008 redevelopment and identifies the updated Kernow Course with 2010. The result retained the identity of St Mellion's original course while establishing a clear distinction from the adjoining Nicklaus Signature Course.
Kernow remains an 18-hole resort course open to members, hotel guests and visiting golfers. It operates alongside the Nicklaus Signature Course as part of St Mellion Estate.
