The Hideout Golf Club is an 18-hole municipal course operated by the City of Monticello in southeastern Utah. Established in 2001, the course occupies land associated with a major reclamation project following the cleanup of a former uranium mill site. Golf-course development provided a way to revegetate and protect reclaimed ground while creating a public recreation facility.
Forrest Richardson & Associates and Arthur Jack Snyder are credited with the design. The championship layout plays to par 72 and extends to 6,654 yards from the gold tees. Its routing uses substantial changes in elevation and the high-desert setting around Monticello.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,084m (6,654 yards). Designed by Forrest Richardson & Associates and Arthur Jack Snyder, the course originally opened in 2001. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Practice Green, Junior Course, Pro Shop.
The Hideout emerged from the reclamation of land associated with Monticello's former uranium-processing site. A golf course was compatible with the requirement to establish vegetation and protect reclaimed ground from erosion while providing a new municipal amenity.
Forrest Richardson & Associates and Arthur Jack Snyder used the elevation changes and open high-desert landscape to create an 18-hole public course rather than attempting to disguise the character of the reclaimed property.
The Hideout is operated as a City of Monticello public golf facility with an 18-hole course, driving range, practice greens and junior course.
