The Scandinavian is a 36-hole golf facility at Farum north of Copenhagen, with separate Old and New 18-hole courses. Both were designed by Bruce Charlton, President and Chief Design Officer of Robert Trent Jones II Golf Architects, across approximately 200 hectares of wooded property. Construction ran from 2006 to 2010; the Old Course opened in 2010 and the New Course followed in 2011.
The Old Course measures 6,361 metres from its back tees and has five tee positions, with all five par-3 holes bringing water into play. The New Course is a separate routing with narrower visual corridors and includes a hole built on part of a former rifle range. The club uses sand-capped, fully drained construction and recycles lake water for irrigation.
The course is a 36-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Bruce Charlton and Robert Trent Jones II Golf Architects, the course originally opened in 2010. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Practice Areas, Golf Shop, Club Hire, Trolley Hire, Clubhouse, Café, Restaurant, and 2 more.
Construction began in 2006 after Robert Trent Jones II Golf Architects was selected to create two courses across approximately 200 hectares of forest, streams, ponds and former military land. Bruce Charlton led the design work.
The design team sought to make golfers use the full range of clubs in the bag. Five sets of tees were incorporated to broaden playability, while hazards, angled fairways and strategic bunkering make positioning important. Both courses were sand-capped and fully drained.
The Old Course opened in 2010 and the New Course followed in 2011. Robert Trent Jones II and Bruce Charlton returned in 2024 for further work intended to improve playability and create additional scoring opportunities on the Old Course.
Golf Digest currently ranks the Old Course No. 42 and the New Course No. 46 among the best courses in Continental Europe.
The Scandinavian operates as a 36-hole golf club with guest play available by arrangement, extensive practice facilities, dining and on-site guest accommodation.
