The club states that the course was built in 1968 and has served golfers in the region for more than five decades. Its 27 holes are divided into three nine-hole loops, allowing different 18-hole combinations rather than one fixed championship routing.

Current rates are US$42 for 18 holes Monday through Thursday and US$75 Friday through Sunday before noon, with the latter including the mandatory cart charge. Weekend 18-hole golf after noon is US$42, while nine-hole rates are US$28 Monday-Thursday and US$30 Friday-Sunday.
The course is a 27-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Armand Farina, the course originally opened in 1968. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Pro Shop, Golf Simulator, Golf Cart Rental, Junior Membership, Family Membership, Golf Outings, Golf Leagues.
Van Patten Golf Club dates to 1968. The facility developed as a privately owned course serving public golfers in the Capital Region of New York.
In 2004 the sequence of holes was reconfigured after completion of a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse, changing how the property's three nines were combined and presented to golfers.
Van Patten remains a public 27-hole facility with daily green fees, memberships, a 300-yard driving range, pro shop, simulator, leagues and outing programs.
