Origins

Wanneroo Golf Club began with a group of amateur golfers who met in 1970 because they wanted access to a local private course with better facilities. Rather than trying to change an existing organisation, they elected to establish their own club.

Did You Know?
The foundation members and sponsors physically built much of the original course themselves.

Development

The founders achieved their goal in only three years. Volunteers and sponsors carried out much of the physical work and the course officially opened on 24 March 1973. The club says later improvements were generally made within existing resources and that both the course and clubhouse eventually became debt-free freehold property of the club.

Today

Wanneroo remains principally a private members' club but now allocates defined public-play periods during the week. Public golfers can book nine or 18 holes, while the club also supports competitions, reciprocal visitors, social groups and member guests.
