In 1924 he became a design associate of Devereux Emmet and in 1929 a full partner, later continuing in private practice after Emmet’s death in 1934. Tull became known for his intuitive design method—often laying out courses by walking the land without topographical maps—and was recognized by the American Society of Golf Course Architects as a Member (1963) and Fellow (1967).
S. and beyond, including Ash Brook Golf Course (Scotch Plains, NJ), Bethpage’s Yellow Course, and numerous private and public facilities through the 1950s and ’60s.
