Brent H. Wadsworth is recognized not as a architect per se but as a pioneering golf course construction specialist who founded Wadsworth Golf Construction Company in 1958.
A University of Illinois landscape architecture graduate (1951), he interned with Robert Bruce Harris, then partnered with Edward Lawrence Packard before establishing his own firm. Over several decades, he built or renovated more than 900 golf courses across 45 states and multiple countries, earning the American Society of Golf Course Architects’ prestigious Donald Ross Award in 1993 for his lasting influence on the profession.
Though he did not design courses in the traditional architectural sense, his work on projects such as Lincolnshire Fields Country Club in Champaign, Illinois (circa 1965–1976), alongside Larry Packard and Ray Hearn, exemplifies his significant role in course development and realization.
