Golf Course Architect
David W. Gordon (1922–2017) was an American golf course architect and ASGCA Fellow, a lifelong resident of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
After serving as a B-24 bomber instructor pilot in the Army Air Force during World War II, he studied agronomy at Penn State University before joining his father William F. Gordon's design firm, becoming a partner in 1952.
Most of the elder Gordon's courses from the mid-1950s onward, including Bethlehem Golf Club's Monocacy Course (1956), were co-designed by the father-son duo. After William's death in 1973, David continued practicing golf course architecture into the mid-1980s, designing several courses independently, including Hershey's Mill Golf Club and Glenhardie Country Club in Pennsylvania and Rockland Lake Golf Course in New York.
