Golf Course Architect
Donald Ray Sechrest (1933–2006) was an American golf course architect based in the Midwest. Born in St.
Joseph, Missouri, he attended Oklahoma State University and briefly played on the PGA Tour before embarking on a design career. Sechrest designed more than 90 courses, with his first being Stillwater Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma.
One of his notable projects is Boiling Springs Golf Club in Woodward, Oklahoma, opened in 1979 and celebrated for its sandbelt-style terrain and natural character. His work is characterized by its integration with regional landscapes and reliable routing across public and resort settings.
