Frank Urban “Fuzzy” Zoeller Jr. S.
Open in 1984. After a celebrated playing career, he shifted into golf course architecture, often collaborating with Clyde Johnston and others, favoring enjoyable, accessible layouts for all skill levels.
His design credits include Indiana’s Covered Bridge Golf Club, Champions Pointe, Pfau Course at Indiana University, Timbergate Golf Course, Hilton Head’s Island West, Boulder Ridge Country Club, and co‑designing Chestnut Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, IN. Zoeller’s design philosophy emphasized “Fuzzy Fun,” balancing challenge and playability while considering profitability and course maintenance.
