Golf Course Architect
Lee Buck Trevino (born December 1, 1939 in Dallas, Texas) is best known as one of golf’s most charismatic and successful players, winning six major championships and 29 PGA Tour events before a dominant Champions Tour career. Later, he parlayed his on-course insight into golf course design, lending his name and philosophy to a small number of “Lee Trevino Signature” courses.
Notably, Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina—opened in May 1996—was the first of his signature courses built east of the Mississippi. His design approach emphasizes playability for all levels, ensuring golfers can continually improve, while integrating natural land contours and scenic elements.
