Golf Course Architect
Matthew “Matt” Edwin Dye was an American golf course architect, a third‑generation member of the renowned Dye family—grandson of Paul (Pink) Dye, son of Roy Dye, and nephew of Pete Dye. After years working with his family as a greens construction specialist, he struck out on his own in 2002.
His first independent project was a major redesign of Carrington Estate on New Zealand’s Karikari Peninsula, completed in December 2003, widely regarded as his most‑famous work. Tragically, Dye passed away in August 2008 after a battle with colon cancer, cutting short what many expected to be a flourishing solo career.
