Golf Course Architect
Perry O’Neal Dye (born 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana; died July 2021 in Denver, Colorado) was the eldest son of celebrated architects Pete and Alice Dye. Raised amid golf course design, he began apprenticing under his father at age 12 and formally entered the profession full‑time in the 1980s, founding his own firm, Dye Designs.
He built over 80 courses across 15 countries, with notable emphasis on environmentally sensitive and water‑conserving designs. His portfolio includes Indian River Preserve Golf Club in Florida (co‑designed with Jan Stephenson), as well as prominent projects such as Pound Ridge (NY), Desert Pines (NV), Lykia Links (Turkey) and numerous courses across Asia.
He was posthumously recognized by peers for his dedication to design and service via the ASGCA’s Perry O. Dye Service Award.
