Golf Course Architect
Raymond “Buddy” Loving, Jr. (1926–1998) was a Virginia‑based golf course architect who apprenticed under his grandfather, Fred Findlay, and later worked collaboratively with Algie Pulley before practicing on his own.
He was elected as an Associate member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) in 1974, achieved Regular membership in 1976, and was elevated to Fellow status in 1996. Among his projects, Loving is credited with designing or renovating Shenandoah Valley Golf Club (including the Old Course), as well as courses such as Winters Run Golf Club (Maryland), Hunting Hills Country Club (Virginia), and Water’s Edge Country Club (Virginia), among others.
