Golf Course Architect
Ron Prichard (born 1945 or 1946) is an American golf course designer and restoration specialist whose career spans over four decades, with a particular reputation for reviving classic Donald Ross courses. He designed the Tournament Players Club at Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, which opened in 1988 in consultation with tour professionals Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller.
Prichard pioneered the field of historically informed golf course restoration, beginning in 1983 with a project at Texarkana Country Club. Since then, he has restored dozens of pre‑World War II courses—including Aronimink, Charles River Country Club, Mountain Ridge, Portland Country Club, Mountain Lake, and others—often by relying on original drawings, aerial photographs, and traditional design principles.
He is known for minimalistic, historically respectful interventions and hand‑drawn layout sketches evocative of early 20th‑century architects.
