Golf Course Architect
John Sanford is an American golf course architect and principal of Sanford Golf Design, with a career spanning over three decades. A landscape architecture graduate from Louisiana State University (1981), he transitioned into golf course design and has since completed over 70 new designs and renovations, working across North America, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
He also served as president and vice president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, underscoring his prominence in the field. His work includes strategic, visually integrated designs—often collaborating with Nicklaus Design—and projects on challenging urban or repurposed lands, such as Ferry Point in the Bronx.
