Tom Jackson

Golf Course Architect

Tom Jackson (Thomas R. Jackson) is a golf course architect active since the mid‑1960s in the Southeastern United States.

He began his career after earning an architecture degree in 1965 and apprenticed under Robert Trent Jones and George W. , in 1971.

His firm, based in Greenville, South Carolina, has designed over 75 courses, spanning private, resort, public, and government-owned properties, with many in the Carolinas and Southeast. Among his works are TP (Terri Pines) Country Club in Cullman, Alabama (opened 1980), and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina (designed 1984), which has been recognized among South Carolina’s top courses and hosted PGA Chapter Championships.

His designs are noted for being functional, enduring, and suited to varied golfers, with rolling terrain and strategic play, and he was inducted into the Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame in 2007.
