About Alexander Park Resort

Alexander Park Resort is an 18-hole, par-73 parkland course at Court-y-Park, near Pixley in Ledbury, Herefordshire, built as part of a golf, spa and leisure resort that opened in 2011 and added its golf course in 2014. The layout is arranged as two nine-hole loops, both returning golfers past the clubhouse and driving range after the 9th and 18th greens, and is built around four lakes with the Malvern Hills visible from parts of the course. From the White tees it measures 6,825 yards (course rating 72.4, slope 129), 6,456 yards from the Yellow tees, and 5,341 yards from the Red tees — figures the club advertises as the longest yardage of any course in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Membership currently runs on a waiting list, with places released on a one-in-one-out basis, but the club also publishes visitor and guest-of-member green fees for those who want to play without joining. Alongside the golf course, the wider resort includes a 12-bay floodlit driving range, pro shop, buggy and trolley hire, a spa, gym and indoor pool, the on-site Bistro restaurant, and overnight accommodation in converted farm buildings on the estate.

The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 73, 6,241m (6,825 yards), course rating 72.4 and slope rating 129. The course originally opened in 2014. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Bistro, Driving Range, Pro Shop, Golf Cart Rental, Spa, Gym.

Origins

Alexander Park takes its name from Michael Alexander Dudley, who developed the estate at Court-y-Park, a former farm near Pixley outside Ledbury, into a golf, spa and leisure resort together with his wife Caroline. The couple opened the first phase of the resort — a gym, spa pool and leisure pool — in February 2011, followed two months later by a function suite built for weddings and events. Rather than being cleared, the farm's stables and barns were converted into guest accommodation, which is why several of the resort's buildings are listed structures with histories that predate the resort itself.

The golf course followed later, added to the estate in 2014 as the last major piece of the development. Alexander Park Resort Limited, the company that now runs the site, was incorporated in January 2015 to bring the golf, leisure and accommodation businesses under one operation.

Design Philosophy

Rather than one continuous 18-hole circuit, the course is arranged as two nine-hole loops, so both the 9th and 18th greens finish close to the clubhouse and driving range — a routing aimed as much at members playing a quick nine as at golfers doing a full round. Four lakes are worked into the layout across the estate's parkland, and the club markets the course's 6,825-yard back-tee length as the longest in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Course reviewers have also noted that the layout carries unusually few bunkers for an 18-hole course, with strategy driven more by water and tree cover than sand.

Development

Since the golf course opened in 2014, the resort has continued to build out its non-golf side, including an indoor pool and gym, and a driving range that has grown into a 12-bay, floodlit facility used for both member practice and lessons from the resident teaching professional. No major redesign of the golf course itself has been documented since it opened.

Today

Alexander Park now operates primarily as a private members' course, with membership currently subject to a waiting list released on a one-in-one-out basis. It also takes visitor green fees and guest-of-member rates for non-members wanting to play, and sits alongside the resort's driving range, pro shop, spa, gym and Bistro restaurant, with the original farm buildings still used as overnight accommodation.
