About Ballyliffin Golf Club - Glashedy Links

Glashedy Links is the newer of Ballyliffin Golf Club's two championship 18-hole links in County Donegal. Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock designed the course after the club established a development committee in 1991 to address growing visitor demand. Construction began on 7 May 1993, with shaping and seeding progressing that year, and Glashedy officially opened on 3 August 1995.

The routing occupies the club's substantial natural dune landscape and uses elevated tees, large greens, deep bunkering and exposed coastal wind as principal strategic elements. Ballyliffin now operates Glashedy alongside the Old Links and the shorter Pollan Links. The club's official site provides a hole-by-hole guide and online visitor booking.

The course is an 18-hole links golf course. Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock, the course originally opened in 1995. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Practice green, Golf shop, Restaurant, Full Membership, Junior Membership, Intermediate Membership, Life Membership, and 1 more.

Origins

By 1991 Ballyliffin's growth in membership and visitor play had created pressure for additional capacity. A development committee considered the club's long-term needs and entered discussions with architects Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock about a second championship course on land already controlled by the club.

Design Philosophy

Glashedy was routed through Ballyliffin's large dune landscape as a modern championship links. Elevated tees, broad rolling fairways, large greens and deep bunkering use the natural scale of the site, while coastal wind changes the playing strategy from day to day.

Development

Construction formally began on 7 May 1993. Fairways, greens and tees were shaped during the following months, with seeding beginning that September. The course officially opened on 3 August 1995.

Recognition

Glashedy's creation transformed Ballyliffin from a single-course club into a two-championship-course destination and materially increased its capacity for visiting golfers and tournament golf.

Today

Glashedy remains one of Ballyliffin's two principal championship links, operating alongside the Old Links and the shorter Pollan Links.
