Birdwood Golf Course is the 18-hole championship course at Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia, a property owned by the University of Virginia Foundation. The original Birdwood course opened in 1984 and was designed by Lindsay Ervin. A major redevelopment led by Davis Love III and Love Golf Design produced the present layout, which opened in 2020.
The championship course is a par 71 extending to 7,116 yards. The project substantially reworked the earlier routing rather than making a limited cosmetic renovation, while retaining golf on the historic Birdwood property. Birdwood also serves as the home course of the University of Virginia men's and women's golf programs.

Golf at Birdwood was established on the Boar's Head property during the 1980s. Lindsay Ervin designed the original course, which opened in 1984. The property later became closely associated with the University of Virginia through ownership by the University of Virginia Foundation, and Birdwood developed into the home course for Virginia's men's and women's golf programs.
The modern Birdwood is principally associated with the comprehensive Love Golf Design project led by Davis Love III. Rather than simply updating greens or bunkers, the work produced a substantially reimagined championship layout. The redesign sought to make better use of the property's terrain and created a course capable of serving resort golfers, university teams and championship-level play.
The project also broadened the golf offering through The Nest short course and expanded practice infrastructure.
The defining change in Birdwood's history came with the redevelopment completed in 2020. Love Golf Design transformed the earlier Lindsay Ervin course into the present 18-hole championship layout. The project formed part of a wider investment in golf at Boar's Head Resort and strengthened Birdwood's role as the University of Virginia's golf base.
Birdwood operates as the principal golf course at Boar's Head Resort and remains owned within the University of Virginia Foundation's resort property. The championship course is complemented by practice facilities and The Nest short course, while the University of Virginia golf programs use Birdwood as their home facility.
