Biwako Country Club is a private 27-hole golf complex in Ritto, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Seizo Tomizawa was commissioned to design the course in 1958, and the first nine, the Ritto Course, opened on 8 November 1959 as Shiga Prefecture's first golf course. The Biwako nine followed in 1960, creating 18 holes, and the Mikami nine was completed in 1968 to bring the property to 27 holes.
The three loops are each nine holes and are combined into 18-hole rounds. The club uses two bentgrass greens per hole, identified as Tournament and Champion greens, with different published yardages. In October 2020 the Biwako Course underwent a major renovation supervised by Greg Norman Golf Course Design.
The course is a 27-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Seizo Tomizawa, the course originally opened in 1959. It is open to members and their guests. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Restaurant, Putting Green, Approach Practice Area.
Seizo Tomizawa was commissioned in 1958, with Shiga Kanko Co. established that December to develop the project. The first Ritto nine was completed and opened on 8 November 1959.
The Biwako nine was completed in 1960, creating an 18-hole club, and Mikami followed in 1968 to complete the 27-hole property. In October 2020 the Biwako loop underwent a major Greg Norman Golf Course Design-supervised renovation.
Biwako has staged numerous major Japanese tournaments, including multiple national opens and the 2011 Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open.
The club operates three nine-hole loops with two bentgrass greens per hole. Guests may play through member introduction, while the course continues to maintain a championship-oriented tournament profile.
