Origins

A group of golfers formed the club in 1906 after renting fields adjoining Chilwell's old Manor House. Tom Williamson produced the plan for the original nine-hole course.

Did You Know?
The eighth hole is named Havers after Arthur Gladstone Havers, who played an opening-day match against Tom Williamson when the 1920s clubhouse was formally opened.

Design Philosophy

Williamson used the largely level parkland and existing field structure to create a compact course whose principal defences are positioning, trees, bunkers and small strategic targets rather than dramatic changes in elevation.

Development

The club developed from nine to 18 holes during its early decades. A new clubhouse was completed in the 1920s, and the course has since received modern USGA-specification greens.

Today

Chilwell Manor remains owned and managed by its members while welcoming visitors and societies.
