Cinnabar Hills Golf Club is a 27-hole public facility in the hills south of San Jose, California. Designed by John Harbottle III and opened in 1998, it was San Jose's first new public golf course in roughly three decades. The property contains three distinct nine-hole courses named Mountain, Canyon and Lake.
Players combine two nines to create Mountain/Canyon, Lake/Mountain or Canyon/Lake rounds, and the club publishes separate course ratings and slopes for each combination. For example, the men's Hawk tees are rated 72.7/140 at 6,617 yards on Mountain/Canyon, 73.7/142 at 6,854 yards on Lake/Mountain and 73.0/142 at 6,713 yards on Canyon/Lake. John Harbottle's routing retained the natural slopes and mature oak character of the site.

Cinnabar Hills opened in 1998 as San Jose's first new public golf course in about 30 years. The property took its name from cinnabar, the red mercury-bearing ore historically mined in the hills south of the city.
John Harbottle III designed three separate nine-hole courses—Mountain, Canyon and Lake—with an emphasis on retaining the natural slope of the terrain and preserving the site's existing landscape character. Any two nines can be paired into an 18-hole round, creating materially different yardages and ratings.

The facility continues to operate as a 27-hole public golf complex, with official ratings maintained separately for Mountain/Canyon, Lake/Mountain and Canyon/Lake combinations.
