Club del Lago Golf is an 18-hole golf club at Portezuelo beside Laguna del Sauce, near Punta del Este. The original championship circuit measures 7,065 yards from the professional tees, with shorter published distances of 6,354 yards for men and 5,945 yards for women. Enrique Serra designed the original course, while Ángel Reartes later designed two additional holes forming the Laguna del Sauce circuit.
Those extra holes allow the club to configure multiple 18-hole combinations rather than functioning as a conventional single 20-hole scorecard. Club del Lago identifies itself as the first golf course in South America to obtain ISO 14001 environmental certification. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, golf carts, club rental, pro shop and food service.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. The course was designed by Enrique Serra. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pro Shop, Golf Cart Hire, Golf Club Hire, Restaurant, Snack Bar, Pitch and Putt.
The original 18-hole layout was designed by Argentine architect Enrique Serra beside Laguna del Sauce. Sources disagree on its opening chronology: the club's current site refers to the original circuit as inaugurated in 1975, while older Uruguayan tourism material gives 6 January 1983.
Two additional holes forming the Laguna del Sauce circuit were designed by Ángel Reartes. Together with the original holes they permit several different 18-hole configurations. The club subsequently obtained ISO 14001 environmental certification.
The course has hosted PGA Tour Latinoamérica competition and was referred to by Roberto De Vicenzo as 'La Augusta de Sudamérica'.
Club del Lago remains open throughout the year, with its championship course, additional golf holes, practice facilities and tournament programme.
