County Meath Golf Club at Newtownmoynagh outside Trim is an 18-hole parkland course with a long institutional history and a modern layout designed by Eddie Hackett. The club itself traces its origins to 1898 but has occupied several sites and experienced two periods of closure. It acquired its present property in 1968, initially operating a nine-hole course designed by Mick McGuirk.
Additional land was purchased during the 1980s and Hackett designed a new 18-hole course, which opened for play in 1991. The current official scorecard lists the white tees at 6,702 yards, par 73, course rating 73.5 and slope 136. Yellow measures 6,486 yards, Green 6,335 and Red 5,483.

Designed by Eddie Hackett and Mick McGuirk, the course originally opened in 1991. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Toptracer driving range, Putting green, Chipping green, Practice bunker, Bar, Restaurant.
The club's story began in 1898 at Effernock outside Trim, where Irish-American architect Devereux Emmet designed its first course. It moved to Oakstown in 1905 but financial pressures eventually forced the club to wind up in 1925. Members revived it in 1934 and later moved to Dogstown, where Mick McGuirk designed another course.
That incarnation closed in 1951 after the lease was terminated.
A permanent future became possible in 1968 when club supporters purchased Miss C. Regan's farm for £12,000. Mick McGuirk designed a nine-hole course there.
During the late 1980s the club acquired additional land, enabling Eddie Hackett to design a new 18-hole course. The par-73 layout opened in 1991, followed by a new clubhouse in 1993.
The club received the Golfers Guide to Ireland's Best Hidden Gem award for 2025.
County Meath operates an 18-hole par-73 parkland course with four fully published tee sets. Practice infrastructure includes a floodlit Toptracer bay, putting and chipping greens and a bunker practice area.
