Dainfern Country Club is an 18-hole parkland golf course within Dainfern Golf Estate in northern Johannesburg. The estate developed from land acquired by Johnnic Properties in 1985 that included the former Fourways Golf Course. Gary Player and Phil Jacobs redesigned that earlier layout, with the project underway by 1989 and the modern Dainfern course dating from the early 1990s.
The men's course is par 72, and published scorecards show multiple tee configurations extending beyond 7,000 yards. The Jukskei River, water features, mature vegetation and rocky outcrops are recurring elements of the layout. The club welcomes visitors as well as members and residents.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Gary Player and Phil Jacobs, the course originally opened in 1991. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving range, Putting green, Chipping green, Pro Shop, Golf carts, Restaurant, Bar, Halfway house, and 2 more.
Johnnic Properties acquired the land in 1985, including the old Fourways Golf Course. The company subsequently pursued plans for a residential golf estate on the outskirts of Fourways, with the Dainfern development taking shape during the late 1980s.
Gary Player and Phil Jacobs transformed the existing Fourways layout into the modern Dainfern course. The design incorporated the Jukskei River, water features, established vegetation and rocky outcrops into a residential-estate setting.
The design phase is recorded by the estate in 1989, and the course is generally dated to 1991. Dainfern Township was formally proclaimed in 1992. Johnnic transferred management of the estate to the Dainfern Homeowners Association in 2000.
The course marked its 30-year milestone in 2021.
Dainfern has hosted professional tournament golf and has been recognised in Johannesburg-area course awards and rankings.
The course remains part of Dainfern Golf Estate and Country Club. It supports resident and club membership while also publishing visitor green fees and maintaining a driving range, short-game practice facilities, golf retail and clubhouse dining.
