Fairgrounds Golf Course is a public nine-hole executive course and practice facility at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California. Golf first opened on the site in 1960 as the Fairgrounds Golf Center. The course sits within the fairgrounds race-track property and was completely redesigned before reopening on 1 April 2006 as the Fairgrounds Golf Course and Learning Center.
The current layout is par 29 and approximately 1,500 yards from the longer tees, with seven par-3 holes and two par-4 holes. Two teeing positions allow golfers to play the nine twice with some variation, producing an 18-hole round of roughly 3,000 yards. Practice facilities include a multi-station driving range, putting green and chipping area, with golf instruction also available.
The course is a 9-hole executive golf course. It plays to par 29, 1,500 yards, course rating 28.4 and slope rating 92. The course originally opened in 1960. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Club Rental, Push Cart Rental.
The facility began in 1960 as the Fairgrounds Golf Center. From the start it combined a short nine-hole course with practice facilities and developed a role as an accessible place for beginners and golfers looking for a quick round or practice session.
After operating for several decades, the golf facility underwent a complete redesign. The all-new Fairgrounds Golf Course and Learning Center reopened on 1 April 2006. The revised facility retained its emphasis on short-course golf and instruction while expanding its identity as a dedicated practice and learning venue.
The National Golf Course Owners Association awarded Fairgrounds Beginner Friendly Certification for its efforts in junior golf and introducing players to the game.
Fairgrounds remains a public nine-hole executive course with two teeing positions, a driving range, short-game practice areas and golf instruction.
