Origins

Gokarna Forest Resort occupies a large wooded estate east of Kathmandu that had previously served as a royal retreat. Design Philosophy

The forest itself was a defining constraint and asset for the routing. Accounts of the project emphasise retaining the natural wooded character rather than extensively clearing the property. The result is a parkland course at approximately 4,550 feet above sea level, routed through mature forest.

Today

Gokarna Forest Resort continues to advertise its 18-hole golf course as a central resort facility. The wider property combines golf with accommodation in the historic Gokarna woods roughly 10 kilometres from central Kathmandu.
