Golfpark Rotterdam is a public golf facility in Rotterdam, South Holland, developed on approximately 70 hectares near the Spaanse Polder and Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Its first phase opened in 2025 with a qualifying 9-hole par-28 shortgolf course measuring 1,097 metres from the yellow tees, together with a driving range and practice facilities. The short course mixes eight par 3s with one par 4 and is open without a required handicap or course permission.
Golfpark Rotterdam is being built in phases toward a 27-hole complex designed by Belgian golf architect Bruno Steensels of Mastergolf International. The design is described by the operator as an inland-links concept, using an open, rolling landscape rather than a conventional tree-lined parkland layout. As of August 2026, the site also has a temporary 9-hole, par-36 loop measuring 3,183 metres while construction of the permanent full-length loops continues.
The course is a 9-hole links golf course. It plays to par 28, 1,097m. Designed by Bruno Steensels, the course originally opened in 2025. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Practice Bunker, Brasserie.
Golfpark Rotterdam traces its origins to entrepreneur John Scholte, who pursued the idea of creating a major golf facility in the Overschie area for more than two decades. Scholte won a competition connected with development of the site in 2004 and later advanced plans for a 27-hole course. The unusual location had previously been used for the storage of contaminated harbour sludge, requiring extensive environmental controls and earthworks before a golf course could be established.
Belgian architect Bruno Steensels became closely associated with the project and produced the course design. Progress was prolonged by planning, construction and economic issues, and the original projected opening dates passed without the course being completed.
Steensels' design uses the site's man-made elevation changes and exposed character as the basis for an inland-links-style course. The operator describes the approximately 70-hectare property as open and rolling, with natural-looking forms rather than a conventional tree-lined parkland treatment. Independent coverage of the opening similarly noted that wind, firm playing surfaces and elevation changes are intended to provide much of the course's defence, with relatively few conventional water hazards.
The completed masterplan calls for 27 holes, combining full-length golf with a shorter qualifying course.
A major change came in 2023 when Hollandsche Golfbaan Exploitatiemaatschappij acquired the project from Scholte. Its associated construction and maintenance company, Hollandsche Greenkeeping Maatschappij, then accelerated the physical development. The first phase consisted of the driving range, practice facilities and a 9-hole par-3/4 short course.
The first nine became playable at the end of August 2025 and the facility was formally celebrated with an opening shortly afterward. Development has continued since opening. In August 2026 the operator reported that the first permanent full-length 9-hole loop was nearing completion while work had already begun toward a second full-length loop, which will complete Steensels' planned 27-hole configuration.
The opening attracted attention within the Dutch golf industry because entirely new large golf developments have become uncommon in the Netherlands. The Nederlandse Golf Federatie highlighted the opening in 2025, while GOLF.NL covered both the course's unusually long development history and the rating of its first par-3/4 layout.
Golfpark Rotterdam is operated as part of the Hollandsche Golfclub network and is open to public green-fee play rather than being restricted to a traditional private membership. The currently established shortgolf course has nine holes, par 28, measuring 1,097 metres from the yellow tees and 983 metres from the red tees. It is qualifying and requires no minimum playing level.
A temporary 9-hole, par-36 loop of 3,183 metres is also in use while the permanent course continues to be built. Practice facilities include a driving range, putting green, chipping areas and practice bunker, and the site has a brasserie.
