About Island Pointe Golf Club

Island Pointe Golf Club is an 18-hole public course in Kodak, Tennessee, originally known as River Islands. Arthur Hills designed the layout, which opened in 1991 on more than 175 acres beside the French Broad River. The routing uses three islands within the river as part of the course and the club describes the design as links-style.

The longest Champion tees measure 7,001 yards at par 72, with Player, Member, River and Island tees shortening the course to 4,873 yards. Published rating sources disagree with rating figures quoted in the club's homepage prose, so those disputed values are not used at course level. Island Pointe operates as a daily-fee facility and provides a driving range, putting green, chipping area, PGA instruction, rental clubs, golf carts and a bar and grill.

The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 7,001 yards. Designed by Arthur Hills, the course originally opened in 1991. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Golf Lessons, PGA Instruction, Club Hire, Golf Cart Rental, Pro Shop, and 2 more.

Origins

The course was developed as River Islands and opened in 1991. Arthur Hills designed the 18-hole daily-fee layout on a property exceeding 175 acres beside the French Broad River.

Design Philosophy

The routing uses the river corridor and three islands as integral parts of the course rather than as a peripheral backdrop. The club characterizes the resulting design as links-style, with five tee sets spreading the course from 4,873 to 7,001 yards.

Development

The course later changed name from River Islands to Island Pointe Golf Club while retaining the Hills routing.

Today

Island Pointe remains a public daily-fee operation with substantial practice facilities and an active tournament and charity-event program.
