Origins

Course architect David Tucker purchased 60 acres in Charnwood Forest in 1966, and an original nine-hole course was in play by 1967. Ownership passed later that year to Brush Engineering of Loughborough.

Did You Know?
Tony Jacklin said during a 1989 visit that Lingdale had probably the toughest opening three holes in the Midlands.

Design Philosophy

The original routing made use of the Charnwood Forest terrain, with the demanding opening sequence becoming one of the layout's most frequently noted characteristics.

Development

Brush Engineering continued developing the property for 14 years. Members bought the club in 1982 and expanded it to 18 holes in the late 1980s after acquiring more land. Beginning in October 1999 all 18 greens were reconstructed to USGA specification.

A new clubhouse and professional shop opened in 2006.

Recognition

Peter Alliss referred to Lingdale as a 'hidden gem within the Midlands', while Tony Jacklin specifically praised the challenge of the opening holes during a 1989 visit.

Today

Lingdale is a member-owned 18-hole club that accepts visitors, societies and county-card golfers.
