Llanishen Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course at Heol Hir on the northern side of Cardiff. The club dates to 1905 and occupies hillside ground overlooking Cardiff, the Bristol Channel and the Somerset coastline. Its current database par of 68 is supported by published men's scorecard information, although publicly available sources disagree slightly on exact current tee lengths: Golfshake lists the White course at 5,301 yards and Yellow at 5,102 yards, while another directory carries somewhat longer figures.
The course is therefore relatively short by modern 18-hole standards, but the club and Visit Wales describe a layout where shaped holes, small target areas and changes of direction provide much of the challenge. A modern clubhouse opened in April 1995 and includes bar, lounge and restaurant facilities as well as a professional shop. Historical references date the club to 1905, while more recent course-development work has included drainage improvements intended to improve the playing surfaces.

A significant modern milestone was the opening of a new clubhouse in April 1995, providing club and lounge bars, restaurant facilities and supporting spaces. Published histories also record a drainage programme between 2007 and 2009 aimed at reducing excess moisture in the greens. Visit Wales reports that the club has continued with a course-development strategy intended to improve the layout and playing conditions.
Llanishen remains an 18-hole parkland members' club that accepts visitors and societies. The course is modest in overall length, with much of its challenge coming from shaped holes and comparatively small targets. The clubhouse includes dining, bar and professional-shop facilities, and visitor tee times can be reserved through the club's online booking system.
