Castle Hume is the older 18-hole course at Lough Erne Resort and occupies land within the former Ely Estate near Enniskillen. It is a par-72 parkland layout designed by John Carroll in 1991. The resort describes the course as being built on naturally well-drained limestone ground and containing approximately 7,000 trees and 30 bunkers.
Castle Hume has a substantial competitive history of its own, having hosted ten Ulster PGA Championships. It now forms part of Lough Erne Resort alongside the newer Faldo Course, but the two layouts are separate courses and their architectural credits and statistics should not be merged. Castle Hume offers four teeing options and is available to visiting golfers, societies and resort guests.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. Designed by John Carroll, the course originally opened in 1991. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Golf shop, Practice facilities, Restaurant, Family Membership, Country Membership, Lodge, Suite, and 1 more.
Castle Hume was developed within the grounds of the Old Ely Estate. John Carroll designed the course in 1991, creating an inland parkland layout on limestone-based ground.
The layout uses mature and planted woodland as a major part of its character. Lough Erne records approximately 7,000 trees and 30 bunkers across the course.
Castle Hume later became part of the Lough Erne Resort golf operation, where it was joined by the separately designed Faldo Course.
Castle Hume remains an 18-hole par-72 course available for visitor, society and resort play.
