New Forest Estate & Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland course at Higginstown near Tyrrellspass in County Westmeath. Peter McEvoy designed the course, which opened on 28 August 2006. A contemporary report published in March 2007 records that New Forest Golf Club had opened on 28 August 2006 and identifies ESSADA Holdings, headed by Alistair Jackson, as the company behind the wider development.
The course uses the estate's woodland and naturally free-draining sand-and-gravel ground. Published descriptions of McEvoy's design emphasise strategic positioning rather than simply driving distance, with a mixture of tree-lined and more exposed holes and varied green shapes.
Golf became one element of a broader estate operation that now includes courtyard accommodation, dining and a golf academy. The academy includes a 300-yard floodlit range and short-game practice area.
