The Alvor Course is one of three nine-hole loops at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf in the Algarve. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the resort's present 27-hole layout as the Alvor, Lagos and Praia loops, which are paired in different combinations for 18-hole play.
Palmares describes Alvor as the more parkland-influenced nine, using elevated ground and tree-lined corridors before the wider course moves toward the coastal dune environment. Because it is a nine-hole component of a 27-hole routing, Alvor should not be treated as a separate 18-hole golf course in scorecard data. When paired with Lagos it forms the opening nine of the Alvor-Lagos combination.
The course is a 9-hole resort golf course. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Driving range, Putting green, Restaurant, Golf shop, Country Membership, Suite, Terrace, and 1 more.
The modern Palmares layout was created as three interchangeable nine-hole loops under Robert Trent Jones Jr., allowing Alvor to be paired with either Lagos or Praia.
Alvor provides the most parkland-oriented component of the three-loop system, using hillside terrain and tree-lined holes to contrast with the more dune-influenced sections elsewhere at Palmares.
Alvor continues to operate as a nine-hole loop within the 27-hole Palmares golf facility rather than as an independent 18-hole course.
