Praia is the coastal nine-hole loop at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf near Lagos in the Algarve. Palmares consists of three separate nines—Alvor, Lagos and Praia—and the official course description identifies Praia as holes 19 through 27. Robert Trent Jones Jr.
designed the present 27-hole complex during a major redevelopment of the earlier Palmares course. Eighteen redesigned holes became available in October 2010 and the complete 27-hole layout was finished in June 2011. Praia is the most explicitly links-oriented of the three loops, routed through the dunes near the coast.
The course is a 9-hole links golf course. It plays to par 36, 2,969m. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the course originally opened in 2011. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Golf academy, Putting greens, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Apartment, Country Membership, Terrace, and 1 more.
Golf has existed at Palmares since the 1970s, but the modern complex resulted from a comprehensive redevelopment commissioned around three new nine-hole loops.
Robert Trent Jones Jr. reorganised Palmares as three contrasting nines. Praia occupies the coastal dunes and is identified by the resort as the pure links component of the property.
The redevelopment opened 18 holes in October 2010. Completion of the third nine in June 2011 created the present 27-hole Alvor, Lagos and Praia configuration.
Praia remains one of three interchangeable nine-hole loops. Golfers can combine it with Alvor or Lagos as part of an 18-hole round.
