About Park Ridge Golf Course

Park Ridge Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 Palm Beach County public course in Lake Worth, Florida. Opened in 2007, it was constructed on the former Lantana Landfill, creating terrain that is highly unusual for otherwise flat South Florida. The property rises to approximately 85 feet at its highest point, producing significant elevation changes across the routing.

Roy Case is consistently credited as the course's designer; some secondary records additionally credit Jeffrey Grossman. From the longest published tee the course measures 6,707 yards, with a published rating of 73.2 and slope of 134. The reclaimed-landfill project is also notable for its environmental history: the former landfill closed in 1987, and the golf course subsequently became an Audubon International Certified Sanctuary.

Origins

Park Ridge represents an unusual piece of land reclamation. The property had served as the Lantana Landfill before the dump closed in 1987. Palm Beach County and the Solid Waste Authority subsequently converted the site for recreational use, with construction of the golf course beginning in the 2000s and substantial fill used to shape the terrain.

Did You Know?
The course reaches roughly 85 feet above the surrounding terrain, an unusual amount of elevation for South Florida.

Design Philosophy

Roy Case's routing uses the artificial elevation created by the reclaimed landfill. Rather than the predominantly flat playing corridors typical of South Florida, Park Ridge incorporates elevated tees, changing levels and exposed terrain.

Development

The course opened in 2007. It was later recognised through Audubon International's sanctuary programme, reflecting the transformation of a former waste-disposal site into managed recreational and wildlife habitat.

Today

Park Ridge remains part of Palm Beach County's public golf system and is open to daily-fee play.
